蜜柚视频 Assistant Vice President for Research Dr. Matthew Reichert has received a Council on Research, Research Leadership Fellowship given by the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities.
The fellowship will allow Reichert to work with other vice presidents for research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Auburn University and Iowa State University.
鈥淚 was excited and surprised, especially given how competitive the program is,鈥 Reichert said.
The fellowship program is designed to provide training and skill development to individuals who work closely in various capacities as or with the University鈥檚 chief research officer.
Reichert, who was an assistant research professor at the U.S. Naval Academy until 2010, hopes to increase his knowledge of research administration and develop skills focusing on specialized Department of Defense contracts, establishment of shared instrumentation centers and public-private partnerships.
鈥淚 will be visiting other universities within and outside the state to better understand how these programs are established and managed,鈥 he said.
Also a professor of chemistry at South, Reichert had not considered research administration until his current position became available, but he said the work has fit with his interests.
鈥淚 have always had a passion for research and building collaborations,鈥 he said. 鈥淎s a faculty member, I have been able to develop my skills in grantsmanship and building research collaborations. I saw this position as an opportunity to use my experiences to help build collaborations across campus, in the community, and with other universities.鈥
