Harrell Receives Prestigious Professional Award

The 蜜柚视频鈥檚 Dr. Krista Harrell, associate dean of students and Title IX coordinator, expected to just celebrate other colleagues during the Association of College Unions International annual conference. But instead, a colleague Ian Crone, announced that Harrell was named a 2021 ACUI Legacy Leader Award recipient.
The ACUI recently held a virtual conference where Harrell and other professionals were recognized and honored at the closing of the program. ACUI is an educational association that brings together college union and student activities professionals from more than 100 schools in seven countries.
鈥淚 am excited and humbled to be a recipient of this outstanding award,鈥 Harrell said. 鈥淲hen my ACUI colleague Ian announced I was named as an ACUI Legacy Leader, I was shocked by the news. The fact that my friends and colleagues would honor me with this prestigious award truly touches my heart. I am grateful to all of those who supported my nomination and contributed to the ACUI Education and Research Fund, on my behalf, to support resources, research and scholarship for members.鈥
Harrell was described by students, colleagues and fellow volunteers as an 鈥渁mazing inspiration; an incredible role model; intelligent, passionate, and kind; a rock-star woman; and a Mount Rushmore of mentors.鈥 She is excited to continue to represent South Alabama on an international leadership level, as she has in previous roles with ACUI.
鈥淚 will continue to work diligently to support ACUI and share the most innovative student union practices,鈥 Harrell said. 鈥淚 will remain forever grateful to all of those who nominated me and presented me with this award.鈥
Harrell supervises the 蜜柚视频Title IX office and the 蜜柚视频Student Center.
